Pointless and Overdue Bitching

I'm just taking a moment here to whine and bitch about the 'Official' Gemstone message boards. First and foremost, many times the moderators let threads deteoriate and deteoriate and only end/move the thread at the end when the discussion is already over. (What a way to do your 'job'!) Case and point, the Conflict folder and the "Pissed off" discussion. Lets see...its been going on for two days now...lots of personal attacks and ohhh...lets end it now! <smirks> Don't get me wrong, I don't give a crap about the personal attacks -- But if you are going to adhere to certain rules -- DO IT.

If you are going to remove a thread -- FINE -- Don't wait until its basically over and then do something about it. What? Don't have time to monitor the boards 24/7? Well, Simutronics, get a clue and start hiring people.

Board posters -- The list of annoying posters (I may be one to you!) is evergrowing. There's one particular person (I won't name names because thats not nice -- And I am trying to be, for now) that I just want to ask how ass tastes -- The way she kisses it ALL THE TIME on the boards.

You can basically guess what the next discussion will be on the boards. It rotates, ya know. 'Cause Simutronics can't get a clue and do something about it, let alone RESPOND with a constructive post. Lets see, multi-accounting, titles, dueling, age, etc.

I'm thankful for these boards. I'm glad theres someplace I can go and actually make some complaints without the BBS monitors coming in and shutting the discussion down.

Something thats been in the back of my mind for a long time -- That now finally needs to come out -- Simutronics sucks ass.

Message to certain anonymous board posters on my mind:
Come on people, pick up your ass and go move, go do something else, ANYTHING -- Its a game. Grow up, deal with shit because it happens and find something better to bitch about.

Ohoh! One more thing that pisses me off.

People who send you an email in response to a thread. If its something personal or whatever thats fine. But I don't want a damn email from someone talking about the same thing I just posted.

I can't recall one time I've posted with one single person in mind (serious posts, mind you) so get off your high horse and do me a favor -- Don't email me.

<<I'm thankful for these boards. I'm glad theres someplace I can go and actually make some complaints without the BBS monitors coming in and shutting the discussion down.>>

That's why I like these boards too, Leslie. Good, bad, or indifferent, all viewpoints can be expressed here, and I think that's a really good thing.

I can only take the Official Boards in small doses. It just seems like the same clique of posters, saying the same things, over and over. I can understand Simutronics not allowing a huge gripe-fest, but even posts that are enlightening, and people could really learn from are pulled. I know I wouldn't have had the trouble I had, if I had been able to read about bugs and the type of things to be aware of.

I could be wrong, but the message I get from Simutronics and the way they manage the boards is, "if you aren't kissing our ass, don't bother to post".

(rant)
I feel the same way. Certain folders are populated by board trolls, and Simu seems unwilling to do anything about it. You've got the game balance folder that has the same person starting topic after topic about what -he- thinks should be done (all other professions be damned). Then there's a particular elf who jumps into serious posts and manages to sidetrack them by posting all sorts of 'humorous anecdotes that occurred to him while he was in the shitter', or just starts up again on some inside jokes that only people who have been around for 9+ years with him will understand. Yes, you know who you are.
(/rant) reg

You REALLY don't want to hear what I think about the official boards and some of the same people who post in them. It's those people that post and have an opinion IN EVERY FOLDER IN EVERY THREAD! My goodness you can't possibly know that much about everything.

That is why I'm VERY thankful for these boards because if someone says something wrong, you can just EDIT it, rather than remove then entire thread. Why they just can't eliminate the flaming parts and leave the rest in is beyond me.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. Oooh that pissed off thread and the Thurfel quest threads were just stupid and about to drive me to drink. Although the pissed off one made me laugh more than anything else. Some people are SO full of themselves, and I'm not even really talking about the originator of that thread. reg

As you can imagine the Thurfel Quest topic I started in the Quests, Sagas and Events folder was really beginning to piss me off too. I was really beginning to have some difficulty restraining myself from posting stuff that would be removed.

So ironic and funny it is that the only people who were on the offensive were those who have been involved in the quest. I was sent an email from -someone- who was involved (Did I mention I hate that?) which I responded to politely -- A few days later I hear the person who wrote me has been totally misinterpreting me and spreading word around that I posted what I did maliciously.

I couldn't give a good damn what this person thinks of me, but at least have some decency and not talk about me behind my back -- They already proved they are capable of writing me a private email if they have some sort of problem.

They tell me, "I'm tired of defending this quest" -- THEN DON'T! Is it your job? No. Suffice it to say -- There are plenty more people tired of hearing about the quest, tired of this one small group getting a HUGE quest, the quest lasting over a year, etc. But no...What's important is that this person is 'tired of defending the quest'. Cry me a friggin river.

Egads, I am almost tempted to actually go over there and read some posts...

On second thought, nah.

I've posted before over there, and I really get sick of not getting a response to a well-thought out post, because someone else is in prime bitching form and has their peeve of the moment. I also find it funny that some people have the time to post 500+ posts a day over there, and still play the game for hours at a time....

Not to mention, I don't have time to wade through the 1000+ posts to get to the current stuff.

Aerienne reg

I think I read a suggestion that Sayrena made once (sorry, if it wasn't her), that each account only be allowed to post a certain number of posts per day. It's kind of sad that they would have to resort to that type of restriction, but gads, Aerie's right, some people feel like they have to post their golden words of wisdom on every darn subject! If they were limited to four posts a day, maybe they'd hold back in case that really juicy topic hit!

And Taernath, I agree, the inside jokes are annoying. If a hundred people read the boards, and only two know what the heck the poster is talking about, the rest of us get to sit there and go "huh?".

Crystal, I want to hear what you think about the boards and the people that post there... and I want names, darn it! Hee hee

I'm always amazed when I read something here that shares my opinion on something. I usually think that I'm the ONLY one that feels like that!

I'll tell ya what pisses me off SK

People that want to change something different everyday...then it changes...then they bitch about it being changed.

Absolutely no sense to me.

A guy about 8 months ago wanted a roundtime on dragging people because he felt that his screen was going too fast for his eyes. That _might_ be the most ludicrous idea I've ever heard of.

reg

Geez I think I'm one of the few defending Leslie because they took her post completely out of context, changing her words around so that they have something to argue about (such a popular thing for them to do). All she was saying was that they (meaning the GMs) give other towns that kind of event dedication. God forbid Icemule not have the prime event! Goodness!

I won't give names, but I'm pretty sure I know who a few of you are speaking of. The inside jokes drive me nuts and their response when someone says to stop? Don't read the thread. ::rolls her eyes:: No, YOU are off topic, YOU stop reading the thread. ::groans::

I have very little, if any, respect for the people who write continually in the official boards. The "peacemaker", the "I've been here since Ice and I know what I'm talking about" Of course one of those "Ice" people doesn't have any character older than 30 because they die all the time, gets frustrated and rerolls them.

Actually, the people who feel the need to state how long they have been working as a founding element of why they should have the final word is an automatic tune out as far as I'm concerned. Being in a game for a long time doesn't give you authority on anything.. just means you had more years and time to be able to play a game more than me.

Oooo aren't YOU special! You have kids, a spouse, a job and you can still manage to read the boards and play five characters for hours a day? Ooo aren't you the family person of the year!

One topic I don't want to see for a frigging long time is the titles topic. We were given a chance to change the titles to what the majority liked. We had a month or two to submit our ideas to Simu because they just wouldn't shut up about it. So they were changed to the majority. NOW they don't like those either. Aren't you people EVER satisfied?! They have way too many projects opened which needs to be closed. Quit having them spend their time on the same crap over and over. This is the least of our problems.

I TOLD you that you don't want me going on a tangent about these people! reg

It happens in dragonrealms... 3 second RT per drag, anything actually. But then again, when you drag something that could be too heavy for you, it might just tire you out... You don't see
'So and so attempts to drag something, but it remains unmoving'
[Repeat 5000 times per room]

Besides, think about it... You're dragging someone, presumably with 2 hands, and walking backwards... do you really think you can grab a body like a pull wagon and just start running?... heh...

Then again... giantmen... reg

Bah, what makes you think you're moving backwards? You're just dragging alongside of you (since you only need one empty hand to do it), which is why it's not as easy and you need the strength to do it.

Adding an RT to dragging isn't going to solve people doing it over and over if they are determined enough. You'll just see one less drag attempt for every two.

Same goes for those people who want to add an RT to invoking spells on scrolls because there are a few people who do it repeatedly. They already get burned if they over invoke anyway. I see no reason why you would want to add that, especially for people that actually use scrolls to hunt.

All these suggestions are made because THEY are inconvenienced, not for the better use of the item. It's all about "me me me" with some people and not looking at the overall effect of the possible change. reg

<<I won't give names, but I'm pretty sure I know who a few of you are speaking of. >>

I, too, won't mention names because of another thread... but it seems to me more people dislike this person than like her... I'm not a hater, but this person fo real cooks my wig.

Anyways, I'm gonna agree with all you guys about the boards, they need work. The sole thing that pisses me off is the way I see a few people post about 8 posts in a row. Make 1 post so I can skip that one post... don't make me think there are worthwhile posts in a folder and open it to find 10 posts by the same moron.

I'd rather have you not "fail" a drag nearly as often.

Instead, you often succeed, but it gives you roundtime. In extreme cases (Halfling wizard trying to drag a giantman warrior), you simply cannot. Having two hands free reduces round time, as does strength and proportionate weight. reg

<huge rant.. ignore if you don't like them>

If I see one more post in the official boards referencing the same elf that does not need the ego boost from hell over and over again, I'm going to go postal somewhere!!!! This elf is not a God! Stop referring to it as though it were!!! <pants>

This is right up there with, if not hand in hand with, the need to put inside jokes with the GMs and "popular" players over and over and OVER in their posts!!!

<end rant.. sorry about that.. I had to get it out> reg

uh.

Amen!

I know exactly who you are speaking of and I couldn't agree more. One would think 100% of the posters would be tired of this same old crap already.

But hey, atleast I don't need to post the same retoric 200 times so I can feel good about myself.

But hey, I lost a lot of stuff in the pre-web days to game crashes and whatnot -- I'd better post that so everyone knows what I once had!

Some people really need to get a life.

Leslie

Smell that shoe! reg

::sighs contentedly:: I knew Leslie would understand.

And no, 100% of the posters aren't tired of it because only 10-15% of the posters don't have an elf fetish.

Hey, I've gotten fed up with Gemstone many times and taken a break from a week to many months. You don't see me posting my "farewells" everytime I do it for an ego boost.

Good gravy, encore with "get a life". reg

Don't get me wrong though...I used to like the person. Until about two months ago when they attacked me on the boards for no reason at all. Seriously, I was sitting at my PC with my mouth agape. My partner, who has been friends with this person for longer then I -- Also had the same reaction. I don't think she much cares for the person anymore either.

So anyway, I post a return and basically express that I have no desire to argue about this. (They actually told me to drop it in their attack to me -- Then later comes back and goes, "You are losing your edge -- In the past you would try to come back with something".)

Um...hello, what kind of friggin moron are you? You just told me to drop it, then you tell me I am losing my edge for not continuing it. Make up your mind already.

So anyway, I just skip their posts now. <grins>

I have no desire to speak to, or read comments from, someone who goes off on the first person they can. And hey, if it was just me I wouldn't be saying that either.

What does "smell that shoe" mean or where did you get it? It's been driving me nuts. reg

Its an inside joke about her being around since the ice age and loving elfs...

Actually, its something a character on Boston Public says. Bascially shes a bitchy parent who uses the phrase to articulate her point.

So really its, "Do you realize the shit you just stepped in? No? Then smell that shoe!"
