Personal blacklisting!

I know that most of you that read this board enjoy roleplaying and there's the sterotype that non-roleplayers = bad for GS3, so I came up with a simple solution, 3 different colors that I use to label people that I meet everywhere. An ugly light green color is for blatantly OOC or MA'ing people, a nice golden color for people who are IC, and a royal purple for those who are actual roleplayers.

Needless to say, the green highly outnumbers the purple or gold.

I use four scripts, three for adding and one for deleting from highlight strings with a .cmd script, so it takes all of 2 seconds to label someone.

In my opinion, it's helpful to know if a person is OOC or not, as my character would see those who are OOC as insane, and therefore not interact with them. Right now, I have 620 people labeled, with around 85% of them being OOC, 13% in-character, and 2% roleplayers.

Just wanted to share this with everyone ;o reg

I used to use the highlights, though in a slightly cornier fashion... (Think stoplight)

Neon Green:You're an acquaintance, or someone i've had favorable dealings with. I'll watch for your deaths or anyway i can help.

Piss Yellow:You've either joined up an argument against me. Berated me for no reason, or engaged in excessive taunting of me. I will laugh when you die, and hope it happens often.

Blood Red:This is what my character sees when you enter his field of vision, Because you have DIRECTLY attacked or stolen from him, and he wishes you imploded into thousands of nummy fleshy bits. In fact, if he had a reason to do so, he probably would.

(Other random colors put in there for no reason whatsoever... deep blue for teras players, brown for landing folk, white for icemule, etc.) reg

Hey, what does youre script look like? Can you post it?

How do you judge each person? How long do you spend with each character that you have black listed? Are all of the roleplayers your friends?

I find the blacklisting very interesting and I am just curious on your standards and whatnot.

If I need that neon green in the game for the questions....it's Nindameoi.

Have yourself a good one! reg

I use pretty much all the colors available..

red: people I don't like, harmful spell effects

yellow: not used, since monsterbold is yellow

green: herbs, people with portraits

light green: clouds

dark blue: guild-related things, fellow moderators

turquoise: spells cast on me

light blue: friends

light brown: spells fading on me

white: skins, gems, coins etc. stun messaging

purple: roleplayers / people I'm looking for

Well.. I've known most of my 'light blue' friends for a long time. We would rest at the same location, hunt together, etc. The rest are people I would run into, and either they aided me in some way (not necessarily raising or healing), or we got along well.

Most of the 'purple' roleplayers I've interacted with in the past.

The 'red' people I consider enemies. Whether for being blatantly stupid (firestorming the glacier, for example) or for directly attacking or annoying me. These are the ones I won't help should I see them lying dead somewhere.

reg

Nope, I hate Methais and I have him marked as a roleplayer . Usually one blatantly OOC remark is enough to get you on the OOC list, and the roleplayer's list means that you are ACTIVELY roleplaying, such as being a participant in the Vishmiir shard quest.

My in-character list just basically means you don't actively roleplay, more of a subtle thing, but you don't go OOC. reg

You have to be in a quest or event to be a roleplayer according to your list? Gee! You drive a hard bargain! reg
Nah... you just have to have a personality that isn't done by 4000000000000000 other people. You'll notice that I have no male dark elven sorcerers that wear all black on my roleplay list, but they are on my IC list.

But, getting involved in some type of quest does help, even if it is something not entirely defined reg

So even if this dark elf sorcerer that wears all black role plays an awesome charecter, there still not a role player to you cause they are dark elf sorcerer who wears all black?

They'll be marked as IC, but not as a roleplayer as the whole dark elven sorc in black with death/bloody alters is extremely overdone. reg
So you mark them based on your personal likes and dislikes? reg
If it's my OPINION that they aren't roleplaying, then they won't be marked as such. It's really that simple. reg
In the good ole days.. lol.. Empaths and clerics were so few they all shared a black list and if you were on it then you didn't get rezzed or healed now that was cool. reg

And then Sovyn came by and ruined our racket. Blah.

Heh.. Dark elf sorc in all black stuff who I always liked.. well is Ryever.. oh and Armaxis dunno about his wardrobe but think its the same. They are always roleplaying or in character.

A person with great roleplaying ability can take the overdone and make it very interesting, actually. reg

I never said they weren't, but once again.. it's my opinion, and even though I stated a stereotype, I try to judge people on a person-person basis. reg
Can someone get off a blacklist ever? Hard to do.

Seems I am still being accused of the Manodith\Golliath\Edgeleaf thing...hehe. I am still putting out fires from crap that happened over a year ago. Jesse\Golliath hasn't been around for 6 months or more. Manodith sold out months ago.

Just last night Kadesha accused me of being in control of them still when I was chatting on the mule net. Oh well. I guess I will stay on the GM blacklist for life.

edge reg

Oh yeah. It happens all the time. Just two days ago there was a person who I had marked as OOC and then I saw them roleplaying in the Solhaven invasion with the pirates, so it took me about a half a second to change her from OOC to IC. reg
Brad! You are officially BLACKLISTED!

You smell like onions!

The Manodith thing was really hard for edge to live down, i know i saw it and feel sorry for him. Was it his fault? Kinda, we've all been thru the..you share your PW you are responsible..blah blah and it's true that's why you don't see edge speak too loudly on issue's that discuss multi-accounting. But {and there's always a but} he paid his dues and still pays them to this day. {Kadesha who?} Is it worth keeping someone on a blacklist forever over? That's a tough question. I saw someone just today on the net asking how he can join the bathhouse, should he be blacklisted? Today probably..once he learns the game, the rules and the concept of RP'ing..hopefully not. So avoiding someone that you blacklisted 6 months prior is kind of unfair.

Summir reg

This may be a little off topic here, but since we're mentioning bought and sold characters and different owners, etc. I just need to say one thing. The way characters are whored around these days makes me sick. Tsin Zurrain Manodith (not to mention Skarletbegonais or whatevr that name is)- all controlled by the same person who MA's them blatently - all used to be owned by someone else. That's just one example of many I could point to - sorry for singling you out but you're an obvious and easy target. Stop the madness. reg
Just to clarify these folks were never owned by the same person.

Buckwheet reg

Owned by the same person, no. Played by the same person for the majority of the time in at least the last 6 months, yes. Seems the real owners of these characters care more for the exp he is getting them more then their characters reputation.

Summir reg

Oh yes, and for the record, my empath doesn't blacklist.

...

He uses a white list. An' good luck getting healed if you're not on it. reg

>>Is it worth keeping someone on a blacklist forever over?<<

In my opinion, people grow. They change. They learn. I can think of no reason to hold some incident from the past over anyone's head forever.

I'd venture to say that each of us had made a mistake along the way...or several, for that matter. I'd hate to think that anyone would hold my mistakes against me for all time. <shudders>

PS. I already explained to YOU in a private conversation why I did what I did. Stop being so annoying about it.
