the state of semi-redux

Been reading up on the official boards about the semi-redux situation...seems Ophion (redux's creator), is being outspoken by Uska and Melissa. Supposedly Ophion has said "no" in the past about the possibity of semi-redux coming to fruition. I haven't seen what Uska had to say about it, but clearly Melissa posted that semi-redux is in the works along with the other GP issues. It has some people pretty pissed off, namely Faegil who I don't know too well, but I know he is pretty good friends Ophion. I respect Faegil a great deal and I rarely see him post on the official boards with gripes about how Simutronics functions, but he certainly did this time and with due reason. You can read the posts yourself in the "Game Balance" folder, in "strategies, hunting..." I believe the topic is "Semiredux No." Solkern posted in the Pet peeves folder the inconsistency of how GMs feel on certain issues, and I have to agree. I realize Gemstone is a constantly evolving and changing game, and there are certain upcoming changes they can't tell us about. However if you are going to reveal information it is only fair to the player that the information be correct. If semiredux is still only a possibility, say so. Don't say "no" and don't say, "its in the works." I take Melissa's word over Ophion's so I am of total belief that semiredux will occur. I just find it real odd that Ophion, the person who one would think is most knowledable on the subject has a completely different opinion from that of Marketing Manager (?) or whatever Melissa's title is.

The problem and argument Staff are having is still based on the actual profession specialties & inherent weaknesses (to make each class good at certain things and weak at others for flavor and individuality), and playing symantics and bluring fairness with "every thing is basicly equal/same" with minor changes or differences between each class.

Some of us have been playing a very long time. We LIKE that a Mage can go out and fry things left and right but is at the mercy of tators and hard hits. We LIKE that a warrior can hit like a wagon full of bricks but needs to stay on his toes against critters that are faster then us.

It simply boils down to each class and profession needing to be selective and intelligent in its hunting and training choices. We don't WANT every thing homoginized down into a bland and flavorless across the board game. As a warrior I SHOULD have the ability to resist hits, and if I feel like learning spells then I expect to weaken my abilities that make me special by virtue of my training in skills not intended for me.

I think its laughable that folks demend that such and such character be changed for being too powerfull.. or similar abilities given to everyone else, in the intrest of "fairness"

Haha!! Happy, I guess you like the 'F' word? And I'm not talking about fairness.

Obviously haven't been playing a long time if you're used to a warrior who can take hits well.

Thank heavens for redux and armor changes. reg

If you dont consider playing since 1993 a long time then no.. I havnt been playing a long time. I wear full plate (no padding), a good wall shield, and a waraxe.. all 8x. I have heavily trained in a way that ended up being perfect for redux. Im a Giantman warrior who role-plays a Voln Paladin.. and yeah.. I take hits very very well.. when I in fact actually DO get hit
