Anticlimactic?

In December, I finally made Legend. I'd been working towards that goal for 6 years, and it was the highest goal I'd set for myself when I started playing. I thought it would be a wonderful experience, but...it wasn't. I actually contemplated deeding her.

It ended up being the point where I stopped playing. I haven't played at all in the game, except to pick up an item I bought, and to pay guild dues, before I lost my skills.

Anyone else experience anything like this? And what did you do to get over it, or did you?

I am excited about the Ilyan Cloud and the Ale Festival, and it will be Aerie's first really appearance back in the game. Shopping was always my favorite part of the game.

Geosain made 50 shortly before the new year. This is where he currently is, nearly 3 months later.

Your mind is as clear as a bell.

So yeah, I guess you could say I know what you mean.

I know what you mean in another way my goal was to be in the highest hunting area which was the rift at the time I made that goal. By the time I had one of every proffession in the rift it was pretty lame. reg
50 levels in 6 years is not in a hurry...

I was just curious if others experienced the same let down after achieving the goal you set for yourself, and what others did to get over it or if they didn't get over it.

Some of us stagger around aimlessly, searching for new goals, yet never finding them.

I want to be the super healer... I want to be able to spell people up, heal people, fix em up, save the day, be the hero, and so on, of river's rest.... By the time that happens, it is either 1:Abandoned 24/7, or 2:Populated a bit, with a cleric and empath 'appearing in their 180s' sitting at the green.

Next goal... I want to leave this evil society, join voln, and be on of the few empaths to do that.

Done.. turns out lots of empaths do now.

Well, how about mastering voln fu? Empaths don't do that.

Done.. a couple older ones do. So much for that.

I know, I'll train Mstrike... How many people see empaths binding/mstrikinging down an army?..

Done... whole of elanthia unimpressed..

That's where about I am now :P...

If yer bored though, Try teras, it's a fun place, tight knit group of powerhunters, zombie spellslaves, and a peppering of roleplayers. reg

There's a difference between wanting to find something magical in your character and how you play, and trying to find a unique path for your character through training.

Believe it or not, every single type of training has been considered, done, and sometimes mastered. The possibility of trying to achieve something through training to be "unique" is going to be near to impossible, which will only frustrate you enough to not want or care to continue.

Try finding a new way to roleplay. Have your character go through some spiritual change and worship a different god. Or something tramatic happens to them and totally change in behavior.

Training to 50 used to mean something when there were few people that high in training. It's rather commonplace at this point, sorry to say, and now it just feels like any other training.

Perhaps you may want to change the goals from training paths or levels to hunting areas. Maybe there's a beast you would like to hunt because you heard they were fun, challenging and have treasure. Set that as your goal. Or perhaps you want to move to Ta'Illistim but you don't have the climbing for it. Train to gain more climbing skills so that you can finally join your friends on the other side.

There are ways to overcome the humdrum of GS. Just alter the way you view it and it will get better. Basing it on JUST training or JUST levels will only lead to disappointment and/or boredom for many.
