Blunts

Blunts. No i don't mean the weapon. I was just wondering how many people here play GS either just sometimes, or most of the times, while stoned or drunk. The people that i've been running into and talkin to and becomin friends with have increasingly been talkin bout smokin up and drinkin while they are restin. I do the same thing, it makes the game more interesting and fun most of the time. I was just wonderin how many other people play GS under the influence. Most people? Or just a few? Just wonderin. reg
I participate in those activies while playing. It makes the game more enteratining, and you get more involved in the RP aspect of the game.

Mike

Ralix reg

Optimo sports? Mmm mmm.

Malt liquor? Yum.

While I play GS? Of course not. ::coughs::

From an economical standpoint, BTW, if you drink anything other than 40s of malt liquor, you're stupid.

I'd love to know where you got that fact Alfador.

R - the caucasian who doesn't like beer much but has been known to enjoy a decent malt. reg

I'm sure a couple people out there will know what I'm talking about.

Sonic reg

I know exactly what you're talking about. You're talking about the advertisments for St. Ides and the whole Ice Cube and Holyfield stuff.

Don't even bother to defend yourself pal. Your bigotry is shining like a lily white beacon in that big bad dark night. And you're probably just jealous because you couldn't hold a 40 on a good day.

Roberta - the white LeBatt's drinker. reg

Maybe if I was gay enough to drink in the first place I could tell you whether I could "hold a 40." But anyway, grandma, some stuff is just a bit over your head so why not just let us whipper snappers deal with it ok?

Sonic reg

So not only are people who drink 40's black, but everyone who drinks is gay. Wow, your knowledge is overwhelming. You're a freaking encyclopedia. In fact, I wanna be you when I grow up.

As Kelly Bundy once said: The mind wobbles.
reg

Actually I didn't say everyone who drinks malt liquor is black... You failed logic back in school I take it? Perhaps you should go back and read exactly what I said literally and you might pick up the intended nuance.

Sonic reg

So what exactly did you intend to say when you started throwing around racial sterotypes? reg
If you know it's a stereotype shouldn't you be able to answer your own question?

Sonic reg

<< Perhaps you should go back and read exactly what I said literally and you might pick up the intended nuance. >>

Well logically and literally you must mean only happy people drink!

Oh... wait a minute...

- Lord Kranar, human Archwizard reg

Why do people bother to defend themselves when their intents are obvious and achieved?

You've made a racist comment, just deal with it. Did you expect high-fives for it? Sorry, we aren't your Hicksville friends. So stop chewing on that foot in your mouth and making yourself look more ignorant than you already are.

Bianca reg

Just out of curiousity, Alfador--assuming you are white..what would you say if someone made the argument to you that if you're not some heavy metal loving, all black wearing Satanic Cult serial killer, you obviously aren't white?

I would say keep that trash in the trailor parks in Alabama or Kentucky. Every race has it's bad people, I don't think we need to harp on what qualities they don't have.
reg

I think I can speak on behalf of trailer parks everywhere when I say...

Not In My Backyard.

Hrrmph.
reg

Thanks Dustin but my question was strictly intended for Alfador--or any closed minded simpleton who has lived such a sheltered life that they can not fathom the fact that every person is their own person outside of just what race or religion they might be..and they do not necessarily follow any "stereotypes" to a tee.

People get their panties in a wad over too little. I wouldn't care, it's a joke. If I was black and said what I did, would I have gotten a backlash? Don't bet your ass on it. Double standards abound.

Sonic reg

Sonic

That doesn't mean it's right, either. I'm not going to get on a soap box about it though...

If you were seriously just joking, well then I will apologize for getting angry at the statement...sometimes sarcasm and comedy is lost when the median is the Internet.

It's also always good how only a portion of something of is quoted, so the real meaning doesn't come across. I personally wasn't at all offended by what Alfador said though (it's a common stereotype, whether you like it or not).

Malt liquor. It's cheap, and gets you plenty tossed. Let's face the facts... African-Americans are not the wealthiest race by far. Why wouldn't they drink it? Seems like smart shopping to me.

Me? I'm 19 years old, and a college student, which makes me poorer than them... so I drink it.

Anyways. I think everyone got offended over a little statement with little to no significance. If you haven't heard or dealt with comments such as those, then perhaps you're the one who needs to crawl out of your "sheltered life" or whatever you choose to call it... a Utopia maybe?

I also find it amusing that the people screaming about the "racist bigotry" are the same ones to refer to "Hicksville" and trailer (it IS "trailer, BTW, not "trailor") parks. Racism and prejudice aren't just bound to just the Hicksville, South, the sticks, Texas (sorry, I'm a proud Texan), or trailer parks, or anywhere else you try to peg it. It's hard for me to believe that the same people offended by Alfador's comments are so quick to place their own stereotypes. Just because someone lives in a trailer park doesn't make them a racist or a biggot. It's extremely narrow-minded to think that. So instead of complaining... maybe you should practice what you preach.

Okay. I've said my part.

((Just for the record... I DO NOT, nor have I ever, lived in a trailer park. I live in a suburb of DFW, right between Dallas and Ft. Worth. I just find hypocrisy a little unsettling.))

((Edited for the final comment.))

[This message has been edited by Emtel (edited 03-25-2002).] reg

If you read the posts in Off-Topic, here, and elsewhere by the poster, you'll see that most of us who are responding with this negative reaction are doing so because of a history of bigoted comments by this person. It isn't just because of one post. It's more the straw that breaks the camel's back kinda thing and we all blew up because he seems to truly enjoy his ignorance and offensive comments.

R
reg

He's right. Sonic was out of line with that comment but everyone that tried to put him in his place sunk to his level doing it. Stereotyping does happen, it can't be helped but i don't think it has to be printed for the world to join you in it. Keep those, can be hurtful comments to yourself. Emtel wasn't hurt or offended by the comment because he apparently didn't fit the bill but it seems others were and there was no point to be made by it. Obviously everyone has likes and dislikes ie. people that live in trailers, blacks, older folks, 19 year old college students from texas or whatever but must we keep going with more and more offending comments? Again my point is there was no point to any of the nasty comments made except to be hurtful.

And i have to say, I drank a malt or two in high school back in the 80's because it was a cheap drunk and i was a upper-middle class white girl so? that was before i found boones farm, another cheap drunk.

Summir reg

Thank you, Desh, for pointing that out.

Since you're on about reading things in full Emtel, maybe you should take a look at the Off Topic folder that Roberta is referring to. Back onto the whole "reading" thing again, if you look down, you'll see where I said "If he was joking (which he said he was) then I apologized for getting aggravated over it." As someone who has more times than I care to recall, suffered a few misfortunes not because of anything I've done but BECAUSE of a stereotype, I see a comment that seems racially/religiously stereotypical and I don't see any signs of jest in it, then sorry but initially I will feel some sort of resentment. While I don't need YOU to tell me that people stereotype, I also don't need you to tell me we do not live in Utopia

And if you're going to say stereotyping exists and support people making those kinds of comments (or seem like you are supporting--I'm not saying you are cause I really don't know) then don't call the kettle black Miss Pot when Bianca or someone else reacts to such comments in their own way with the Hicksville or TRAILER park trash (and who cares if he said trailor we know what he meant) stereotypes. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, if you can't handle the heat, get out the kitchen, and other various annoying cliches..Heh.

Ah, good old Boone's Farm. Nothing like being able to buy a case of wine for $10, but the headaches were outrageous. It was a great alternative to Old German and Meister Brau. How about Purple Passion? Wasn't Everclear banned? I haven't seen that stuff since the early 90s.

Izzaac and his lame attempt at changing the subject reg

Naw, you can still get Everclear. ::gags::

It's real cheap in Mexico... something like $15 for a handle from what I hear. If so... that's a lot of trashcan puch and vomit.

------------------
-Emtel Draghan, Sylvankind Rogue reg

I'm not sure of the brand name, but I get grain alcohol at the local package store. I use it extensively in perfumery, because it's cheaper than vodka and holds the essential oils better. reg
Umm.. what does it mean if im white.. make a good living.. straight.. and every once in a while I enjoy a good Micky's Torpedo? :/

By the way.. if you want a REAL drink.. get yourself some Sheaves Stout. Not only is it dark.. if the full bottle accidentally tips over you have plenty of time to go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, brush your hair, then come back and stand the bottle up before any of it spills [cackle!!]

------------------
Why Worry? Its Insurred
aint it? reg

Stout - blech.

I started with one of those pink drinks way back when I was 15 years old and the local bowling alley bar didn't card people. Sloe Gin Fizz it was called.

Graduated to tequila out of the bottle - no salt, no lime. Move up to Mezcal - nasty stuff. Simmered down a bit in high school and went for the raspberry brandy (out of the bottle of course).

Eventually I got into more "adult-type" drinks - 7&7 (Seagramm's and 7-up), Rum & Coke, Jack Daniels and Gingerale (Jack & Ginger) in college.

I discovered LeBatt's 50 in Canada. Cool (not ice cold) with a dash of salt. It's the only way to drink it.

Nowadays I'm back to the fluffy drinks. Kahlua and milk, or pina colada (just had one in fact!). Anything else makes me hurl. I guess all that rot-gut when I was a stupid kid finally caught up to me.

R
reg

Actually if you'll read my post again you'll see that i said stereotyping exisit but don't share, keep it to yourself and don't print it to be hurtful. I do not support the comments in the least, there is absolutely no point in them except to be hurtful.

Summir reg

here's one for you, how about MD 20/20..blah
talk about a hang-over.

Summir reg

You guys have to chill. Although it is a stereotype that black people drink 40's, it's still pretty well founded. Believe me.

I remember the days when me and my boys got a forty each of Maximum Ice and just chilled in the parks, getting hammed..

Now we just drink beer. Preferably Canadian. Or sometimes cider. Strongbows actually pretty good tasting..

G reg

Of course it's true... My good friend has 3 black roommates; care to guess what the only drink in his refridgerator is and the volume of the containers? I just think it's kind of funny.

Sonic reg

Yeah it has to be a fact, since Alfie's limited lifespan confirms it as fact.

I worked with a black girl when I was a secretary for the phone company. She drank pink fluffy drinks, didn't like any sort of ale, stout, or malt.

My ex-boyfriend from High School is black. He liked rum, but other alcohol made him sick.

Until I saw the advertisements that got banned in NY for that Freeze&Squeeze stuff, I didn't even know drinking malt was a "black thing."

Maybe it's a "homeboys who have no braincells because they've burned them all on crack" thing. But a black thing? Get off it. You obviously don't have standards high enough to know people of color with good taste.

Nicely put, there is every type of person in this world, get used to it, they're not going anywhere.

Diversity is the future.

Have you ever actually gotten high before? You seem to have little to no conception of the effect that toking up has on an individual. Smoking doesn't lead to retardation or stupidity, contrary to what you seem to think. Maybe for some people... but if it does, then they shouldn't be smoking in the first place.

Go back and watch some of your Reefer Madness movies, since apparently you think that's such an accurate portrayal. Come back when you get your facts straight.

Yea you wannabe drug addict... what a loser!!

Sonic reg

What a funny topic. When I went to college almost of my close friends were black. I played on the basketball team, and most of the team was black (uh oh, is that another stereotype)and we all spent so much time together because of the basketball thing that we became great friends.

I didn't drink much before college, but when I partied with my friends they would ALWAYS want to get 40's. If they only knew they were being race traitors and enforcing stereotypes! They also liked to smoke blunts.

I think white people that are constantly trying to prove how unbiased they can be are funny. Everyone has biases and preconceived notions. It didn't think Alfador's comment was particularly mean spirited, and I hope you enjoy your seat on the high horse.
