Post was closed but i'd like it reopened...Who are the GMs/GHs In game characters...

I know a few, but i'd like to hear what you guys know....list merchants also and who's the GM behind it

reg

Only merchant names though.

As far as game characters, we're not tellin', nor are we gonna let others be tellin' either. There was a reason that thread was closed.

i'd liek to know who they are also.. reg
This reads just like the Everquest nonsense where people knew that two rather famous individuals (movie stars) player EQ and then proceeded to sell their character names on EBay for $25 a pop. Then the two people had to quit because of all the harassment.

Same goes for GMs with their characters. They have a right to privacy, and I'm sure they don't want people constantly harassing them when they are around to have a bit of fun.

Revalos.. chill dude

i personally want the names so i know to leave'm alone cause if i do something wrong to'm they'll probably blacklist me and give my name to all GM's and i wont get any alters or nothing

LOL! reg

LOL, geez, what some people will do for money.

The post of Revalos' didn't seem offensive to me..

And I don't think gm's do "personal blacklisting"

Anything you do the gm's should assume is role playing..They see a dumb giantman(or whatever) acting mean to them, not yourself at your computer.
They are probably the only people in the lands that understand this..so you don't really need their names reg

I don't think it seemed offensive to anyone. He just seems a little... wound up. ::shrugs::

LOL? Gads does reading things like that make me cringe.

But more importantly, why do you need to know the name of a GM's character?

So you won't "do something wrong to them"?

Here's a great idea and it's on the house. Anything you could do to ANY player that would piss them off so much as to blacklist you, perhaps is something you should not be doing.

Don't purposefully be a jerk and you should have no problems. I have been playing for more than a couple years and have never had a big problem with another player. It CAN be done. I have had pickpockets and everything so dont think I play a huggy smoochy empath or anything.

No one needs to know the GM's characters names for any reason. reg

lol thats so rediculos I dont see why they have some huge claim to privicy thats silly. reg
Yeah heaven forbid GMs be allowed to play privately and quietly and not be known who they really are so that they can have fun, and not have dozens of whispers and thoughts to help them out, or solve a problem for them, or do them a "favor". Yeah, how dare they have a moment to themselves.

Runon sentence from hell.

You don't see why?

I can only hope you are kidding. reg

Other people blabber all over about other things I and other people want privite we don't get our wishs respected so why should they? reg
Nice logic, there. :cough: reg
I'm sure some of you remember when the names of GM's characters were common knowledge and were only rarely kept secret...

Times change, eh? reg

Don't post on boards as your character and you'll probably get it. Anonymity is a wonderful thing.

reg

Some of the GMs were "outted" at the last Simucon. In their case, I don't think it really matters if anyone knows who they are, since Simutronics Corp obviously didn't think it was such a big deal to have these people were ID tags that identified them.

Mahegh/Celtic is one example. Everyone knew him as Celtic from photographs and attendance of past gatherings, official and unofficial. And then he showed up at the last Simucon wearing his Mahegh tag. Avantos/Khaladon is another such example.

In THESE cases, there is no "outting" needed. Just go to the websites that have their photographs and their identities are right there for you to see.

In OTHER cases, where Simu has chosen not to divulge the information, it's none of your business who they are. There's no reason for you to know who they are.

It's *interesting* to know, but unless they choose to tell you, it's none of your business. Period.

Sheesh...I let the boards go for a while and look what happens.

In any case, I posted what I did because I was an Asheron's Call beta tester, and when someone gave out my character's name and said that I knew the answers to the majority of the puzzles and the item lists...well, lets just say I had to change ISPs, drop all IM services, and quit playing because I'd get mailbombed with 75+ e-mails a day and constantly harassed in game about my knowledge.

I bet if a lot of GM PC names were released, similar things would occur.

IMHO, if you want to know a GM's PC name...ask the GM if they want to tell you.

It amusing really to hear the arguments (if one can call them that) about how awful the GM's are no matter what they do.

They should be able to play just as anyone else for relaxation, but more importantly, there have been more than one threads on the official boards about why they NEED to play as well.

If they don't play they, are yelled at for not having the experience that the players have in the game they work on, thus not being able to understand players frustrations.

If the names of their characters are given out its an impossibility for them to "play" as just another player and thereby gain the experience needed.

Aint it great to be able to bash them no matter what! You go on with your bad self.

As for your own problems Manodith, I would say you have only yourself to blame for them eh? reg

Thanks for sharing Desh, didn't know Avantos = Khaladon. reg

Well pin a rose on your nose. Aren't you special?

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn (what their characters are) but your post is no more than "Hey, look at me! I know who the GMs play, and I'm going to rub it in everyones' faces!" And if it isn't, please, explain to me the point of your post. reg

I don't know Gnomad, I didn't take it that way.

And even if it were, I would think that you responding would be exactly the kind of thing that they would be wanting.

I think you may be making an inference that wasn't intended though.

Just didnt't strike me as a big deal.
reg

One reason I would be curious to know is because the neat players, I would have more respect for as a GM. The "uber" characters, I would question how you dedicate your time to the job and still have all this stuff? And then I would start to wonder about all the things that don't work, breakage, enchanting, spell lists.. reg

Did someone liken GM's to movie stars??????

ROFLMAO

I've watched so many people go from player to GM and grow an ego the size of the US. It really takes a grown up to bring them back down to reality, they are still just a 24/7 computer gamer Joe Schmoe and only 'known' once or twice a year at a small text based game gathering.

Those GMs that can stay grounded and laugh about themselves with others, THOSE are the ones still in the real world and you want to 'hang out' with.

Uliq, Khaladon, Krylan, Andraste, Ophion, Krash, and so on.....bad.

Von, Gromial, Tigermist, Kabosh, Xiri, Vetan, and so on... good.

what was the question again?

That wasn't his point.

His point was that both GMs and celebrities have a right to play Gemstone etc. without being harrassed because of their status. reg

Funny Rhain, most of the GM's you listed as "bad" were my favorites.

~=[ Jael Baerd ]=~ reg

Ya I agree Jael...I think Khaladon, Andraste, and Ophion have done a lot for the game..Uliq too I suppose but I'm not a huge fan of his. KRYLAN is awful though...
