Where do all the training points go?

I was playing around with a bard in the excel trainer, trying to plan out a new character. I've been a square for about 90% of my time in GS, and i wanted to try something new. I started by just getting some very base stuff i always train in as a warrior. I popped a 2 in armor and shield, got some CM, edge, physical training, got some spell research (a new thing for me), and a couple other things. Then i scroll down a few inches and theirs some big red -50's where my leftover tps are shown. Its then i realized i had a major problem.

Everything cost so dang much... I can't even get the "bare essentials" , let alone tertiary skills. I figured i just had the wrong idea, was too much into the square mentality.

So, my questions are these:

What does the typical bard train in? How much of this, how much of that. Do spells compensate for lacking in "essential" skills that a warrior would train in? How do bards feel about CM?

Also, what do some of the better trained bards look like? Whats a typical bards weaknesses and strengths as they get older?

In general, describe the bard proffesion.

It's late... so I'm gonna make a short response as of now, perhaps a longer one later...

Bards basically get screwed on training costs. At 42, I double trading, CM, polearms. 1.5 on armor. Single spells, alternate climb and swim and mana share and scrolls, and single perception. That's really all there is TP for. You won't be able to double CM or armor for a while if you're doing edged and shields though, probably. No idea. Well here:

I don't know about placement for the new mangler but here is what I placed my bard at, and what skills I trained him in.

At level 15.

Constitution (CO): 57 .... 3
Dexterity (DE): 63 .... 11
Discipline (DI): 93 .... 16
Logic (LO): 62 .... 6
Intelligence (IN): 63 .... 6
Strength (ST): 96 .... 23
Reflexes (RE): 56 .... 13
Charisma (CH): 97 .... 28
Wisdom (WI): 53 .... 1
Aura (AU): 100 .... 25

Armor Use: 74
Shield Use: 74
Combat Manuvers: 99
Edged Weapons: 124
Climbing: 5
Swiming: 5
Mana Sharing: 66
Physical Training: 11
Trading: 114

He knows 15 bard spells.

I am going to 1019 then going up the minors untill 430 then back to bard till 1050, then back to minor.

I wanted to get my bard up to the highest attack he can get.

Right now using signs, wizard strength, his spells, and a 5x weapon he swings at 244 or 245. His plan gets much more diverse once I stop physical training and mana share.

Points are tight even with this plan, but thats because he isn't placed for growth. I wanted him to have a lot of ability in the begining. So I could mainly use him to sing up gems.

I don't really know much about bards either... heh however this is how my bardess is trained and I believe she's pretty good.

I trained in spells first i got to 1020 then to 410 for the ewave when i hunt, then back to 1035, and now i'm back in 400's till 430, I was trying to debate today on if i should finish to 450 or go back to 1050 but i don't use my sonic weapon much unless I'm dueling, however I'm going to hit an undead gap soon so maybe i should go back to my 1000's after i get 430... anyways, i double in cm every train, single in hiding, ambushing, perception, armor, shield, and spells, double in cm and edge... that's basically all i train in.

Thanks,
Emislity (Just stating my opinion...) reg
