Don't Leave home Without One

As I was baking my cookies today, I bumped my giantman-sized head on the cabinets above the ole breakfast nook, and let loose with some fanciful adjectives (must be from my days of sailing the waters around Wehnimers on the hospital ship). I looked out the window and saw one of my giantman colleagues going out with a slyvie type for their daily rump in the lands. As we exchanged waves, I was wondering as I was rubbing my aching head why one chose to be a big guy and another a little guy.

For instance, I decided to be a giantman empath because I thought I was going to be towing dead bodies in from the field, and needed to be strong. Little did I know that many times, it was I who was getting towed in, and sometimes, little folks who couldn't pick me up (due to an unusually large meal beforehand), much less drag me in, would find me.

I also wanted to be able to survive in the field, so I wanted my character to be able to go out into the wilds without getting dropped by the first kobold that came along.

However, I find that it is usually a good idea to have an empath along in a hunting group. We can bake cookies, we can absorb the other members' wounds so that everyone can stay out in the field a lot longer. We can supply mana for those in the party who desire such high-octane refreshments. At for the highly trained empaths, we have the "click your heels and think of home" shoes for those fast evacuations, or if someone's ball and chain is hollering for them to come home.

I am one who would say that one should never leave home without their empath.

I would love to hear from the other herb-chewing members about why they rolled their character up the way that they did.

Thats one of my empaths at level 56.

Here was my reasoning.

The empath is a sylvan because back when I placed sylvans were highly thought of as the best healers. I sorta placed for growth, but not true growth.

My idea was beable to kill things my age or younger all my life.

I grouped alot, and healed alot.

The extra physical training helps when I am in the field, granted its not much yet, but it gets to be alot at older ages. You can take wounds such as small bleeders and you don't have to worry about bleeding as bad because you get more per pulse back. I also thought that 1101 was related to physical training.

Brig armor. I can't say enough about it. I am going for chain, maybe higher. At later levels its important to beable to take a hit, even if you want to stance back. Heavy padded brig or single chain will be nice.

I went to WoF mainly for emergency rescues on Teras or other high level areas. One quick shot of that And I am sporting a 500ish DS by myself and I can fog in and out.

I will be singling major and empath untill 1175 then I will double major to get the bind CS up.

The CM is self explanitory. Single every level now to add to attack.

The FA I came onto a couple months back. There are areas I can go where I am very helpful. I just need to beable to live there. One of my favorite areas is Glacei. So many people are thankful you can heal their hand wounds and they can make lots of cash from the gems. I also make great learning in Fire Golems and in Myklians.

Diarm traps was supposed to be for when I got past hunting and got bored of healing. With the cap in place it was a waste of points.

Going to 200 mana share, just because.

I posted what my empath will look like at later levels, and here is a re-post of that.

Buckwheet reg

My young Sylvan empath (currently eleven trainings) was meant to be a hunter, training heavily in armor, weapons and other useful skills such as combat maneuvers. Healing abilities were going to be secondary.

I ended up playng her as a pure healer, hardly ever hunting, due in part to her reluctance to hurt any creature. She usually carries a satchel filled with about fifty pounds of various potions and herbs, ready for all healing situations. She is still very young, does not share mana well and has little of her own. Acantha leaf bundles are her most frequently used supplements.

She rarely wears armor, although she is fully trained, simply because it would look ridiculous with her embroidered bodice, soft linen blouse and full skirt.
She rarely leaves the town walls without an escort, so lack of armor does not hinder her.

I think she may eventually venture out more, as a part of a hunting party, to heal her friends as they are being wounded. She will still train in armor, weapon, climbing, swimming and some combat maneuvers. These will be mainly used for defense.

For now, she prefers to hear of battles rather than participating in them.

Rah! I'm NOT the only one! I get nagged to wear some Forest Green Brig and just can't because it would totally clash with my outfit! I'm close to heading to the dyer's tent with the darn thing!

I did manage to unload my little empath so she can at least waddle out the gate now. You're right, all those herbs can get heavy!

Oh! Oh!

Since most empaths are fanatically clean due to the nature of the healing arts (we are constantly scrubbing our hands, aren't we??), we also tend to do the same to the landscape. We pick up "litter" abouts the lands to lend a hand to the janitor. Well, this can load up one's carrying equipment in a hurry, so I would also suggest that an empath get the biggest bag (for all them "medical supplies" that you might find on your travels) that they can lug.

I have heard some snicker "Packrat, packrat" when I am cleaning up some of the streets and the roadways. If you should hear such things, just turn an ear and continue on.

... as soon as you're done adding them to the "never heal and let bleed to death in front of you, while smiling" list.
