Spell training with 630 in mind

With 630 coming out, how many of you have altered your spell training schedule to get it earlier? For a long time, the norm for rangers was to get 625 (with some branching into the 100 list), and then shoot up the minor spirit list for walls. After which they'd go back to the ranger circle for life.

So, has anyone decided to stop and get 630 before the marathon to WoF? reg

601-650
101-150
650+

That's my plan. Maximises the rangers ability early on.

I went:

601-613
101-103
614-625
104-120

I am now planning:
626-630

And I'll make the decision there as to what to do after that.

Slightly outta context of the post...but I remember a post by you saying you had just moved on from Shan Revalos.

What age would you suggest an ambushing ranger going there? DS is not an issue.

Also, do ya need any climb/swim to get to that area?

Thanks.

Hmm...ambushing ranger? I was in there at 41 or so, but I'm not exactly the optimum ranger. At 41 I would easily get whalloped if I botched an ambush.

Generally I used 608 on the warriors and the clerics when they swung. 616 on the rangers and wizards, they are the biggest death dealers.

Do watch out in shan, warriors disarm, and there are some...less than honest folks who hunt there occasionally and might take that weapon and run.

You need to be able to climb to get into the foggy valley (hole/tree), then again to get to the lake (hillock). Once your on the lake, no climbing is needed so if you are short on climbing ranks, get a Havener to set a ring there for you.

I can show you around the area as I am currently back in Solhaven hanging around (waiting for something to happen). If you spot me around, I'll give you the shan tour.

I'm following the path that was posted by Revalos. I can see training in No spells, when I have the option to move to the other list and gain a needed spell. So I'm finishing the ranger list until I hit a blank spot, and then going to minor, until the same, then from 625 to 630 is only 5 slots, so I'll do that, then back to minor and fill in the empty slot to walls. I figure while training, I might as well get the most for my spell research.

I wouldn't expect alot from 630 to begin with, im sure everyone remembers when 615 came out. Took quite some time for it to even become partly useful.

And as for hunting shan....If I go with someone around 40 or so I can hunt there in full leather using spike thorn(and some eh...society skills) at lvl 30, although its almost impossible to hit the shan rangers hard enough to kill at this lvl. I'll probably start hunting there by myself full time around 35-40. E-bladed weapons are a must for shan.

prep 616... reg

We all know Tarhen had some trouble there at 30, a ranger took him out with one spike, LOL! reg
Got fried off spiking shan, only to get spiked by a shan ranger and killed, nice irony there.
