Hiding

At level three I am triple trained in hiding and it takes me between 3 and 10 seconds to hide. I only do it to get used to ambushing, but I would like to know when ill be at three seconds on most hides? Is there a set rank amount where ambushing is the way to hunt? Sometimes I chop off a leg and other times I fail to find an opening. Just wanted some expert opinions on this.

Well I nae sure which rank it is...but as you get older you will see it drop. Since I have been level 15 it has been between 3-4 seconds for me and I double train every level. It also depends if yah have scars on yer body and what kinda hidin roll you get. Yer age and yer ranks will make the difference. Since you triple train in it...I would say yah could start becoming a good ambusher by 10ish. Thus yah have to have a good amount of ranks in ambushing too. Good luck with your ambushin. Tell me how it works out!

Triple training is great if you can, but do not forget your other skills, unless you are going to be a hunting rogue. I double in hiding and ambushing every train so that I have enough left over for the rest of my training schedule.

Been pretty busy because I am excited to ambush decent. Now I can usually hide but my ambush basically just lets me aim my shot really. But that's better than nothing and seeing improvement makes it even better.

I was told I could try pickpocketing at 20 ranks by someone and read on the official boards Porcell say at 50 ranks you should do ok. What is everyone's opinion on that? Currently I live in icemule and they don't seem to particularly like thieves so I figure ill travel to the landing eventually at least just to try it.

One other question I have is I have never gone thru voln with a rogue before. Is it wise to start as early as possible or should I wait? There is a topic like this in the warrior folder but two handed weapons and polearms kill pretty quick even when young so finding a bless isn't that hard to do.

Wow those skills are awesome, especially the hiding and stalking. Just to fullfill my curiosity, what kinda armor are you training towards? Also the only skill that I would have improved would have been combat maneuvers. This is one of the most important skills. But you will always have to be quick hider when huntin that boil and such. Anyways.

Deprav was a greedy giantman when he was young. He stole when he was a near 5 trainings. He doubles in picking pockets every training. I would nae suggest it till you get 20 some ranks in it. Deprav had a lot of death at his young also. You will get caught here and there no matter what. Although stealing is at yer own risk...So if you decide to steal from someone older than you, I would suggest yah make sure you have maximuim spells on you. Or just learn to accept death while making a few coins.

I've done almost the same thing except I have my brawling at 1 per, this is for a couple reasons, I'm pretty confident that I will be able to use single train on Fu to fight monsters plus enjoy all the other benefits of brawling training with only one per train. Also 3 weapon skills per train is optimal for redux, which although not my primary concern is a nice bonus. I may have more TP's than you, but I am able to double in CM which will be very helpful and now can pick up swimming and climbing plus a little perception here and there (can't single in it like you though). Eventually I want to pick up more FA and then some box picking skills but not sure where I will get the points (other than dropping Physical training and normal points growth). I might drop armor down to 1 per after brigandine. Not sure yet. All in all I think your rogue will work out nicely.

Thanks for all the input guys. I decieded when i made my rogue that i liked the options of 2x brawling over the second rank of CM. I figure eventually ill be able to afford it and even if its at legend thats only +25 AS im losing over my life. I get voln fu and all the other benifits of brawling training so i figure we all have to pick and choose what we like. Maybe once i get to a certain age i might drop it down to 1x or 1.5x. Altho i see logs on the official boards of people ambushing with their fists and it looks like a lot of fun to me.

Im hoping to double armor for life as soon as possible. Id like to be wear plate eventually. Soon i hope to be able to start singling climb and swim as well. I dont know growth or anything but i hope to start at 15 or so.

I agree with you Deprav that if your gonna pickpocket you better realize people are gonna likely kill you if they see you. I expect this and am stocking up rapiers in icemule and putting them in the drawer as quick as possible Anyone think its awful i plan to travel to the big town to pick? I almost feel guilty but then i remember folks coming to icemule to do the same and it fades. It makes sense to me to go where more marks are.

I saw someone put the GI for dark elf rogues somewhere and i basically did that except i changed Discipline and Constitution around i think. So my top four were Aura, Discipline, Wisdom and Intelligence i think. I am a little worried about my attack with low strength and 1x CM but then again at level 7 my attack is 91 with a ora falchion. Next train i have a 3x longsword i plan to splat cockatrices with so my attack will be over 100 at least.

Yes yer AS is slightly low for yer age..But yer still ok. It might be a tad difficult hunting for you until Lord because of it being so low...but once yah title, creatures ds are for the most part hittable. And by that time you should be able to crit anything you hunt. What can I say but I have always liked to make my AS as high as possible...(I get greedy) But one of my down falls is I have a low defense. So when I hunt warfarers without and spells I must Stance Dance or hide extremely quick. But that is why I am double training in armor too. Thank the gods for haubrek.

Also just another little tid-bit about thiefing...I totally encourage it. Although if yer caught please for the sake of the game role play it out. I know way too many ignorant old people who thief and they do not role play. Make up excuses like I tripped over my feet and grabbed your pocket by accident and ripped out some coins. I am sorry ect ect. And if death is your option...just accept it...and then get back on yer feet again and start emptying his pockets some more...Well since I am on a role DO STEAL FROM SLEEPERS! Ok thats what I have to offer.
