I'd just close my containers and not dump points those skills, since they don't help.

Also consider that 100 ranks in pickpocket means you would have to be double training in it since birth up to 49th level (assuming you doubled in your 0 level as well). This is a really small percentage of thieves in the lands that you wouldn't catch. Everyone else either singles each year or doubles when they can, which are people you should eventually see.
AND... rogues get a bonus to pickpocketing, so if you have the same exact ranks in it as the rogue, chances are you won't catch him.
As frustrating as it is, don't consider it all wasted training points since fixing it is in the works.
